AUTHORS, VOLUME 1: IDENTITY

BECOMING contributors are thoughtful Christian women committed to pursuing maturity in Christ.  They serve God in a variety of diverse roles from mom to missionary, author to advocate… wherever He calls them.  Meet our authors for Volume 1: IDENTITY.


Kelsey Burke

Kelsey spends most of her days wrestling- with God, with laundry, and with any of her six children.  She is passionate about creatively communicating God's Word through speech, text and art. She finds abundant life in the great outdoors and in deep friendships with other women. Kelsey, her husband, David, and their crazy brood live in Sacramento, California.


Chrystie Cole

Chrystie is the Women’s Ministry Advisor at Grace Church in Greenville, South Carolina. She was a contributor and editor to Grace Church’s Biblical Femininity study and authored Grace’s Redeeming Sexuality and Body Matters studies. Chrystie and her husband Ken live in Piedmont, South Carolina and together parent their teenage son, Cameron.


Ruthie Delk

Ruthie is passionate about helping women embrace the gospel in such a way that it captures their hearts, not just their minds. She is the author of Craving Grace and has the opportunity to travel around the country speaking to women. She enjoys watching movies, drinking sweet tea, riding her bike, and eating an assortment of cheap chocolates. She and her husband, David, have three children and live in Orlando, Florida, where he is president of Man in the Mirror.


Hailey Domeck

Hailey is a Southern gal with a huge heart for international travel. She is the founder of Global Heartbeat, a website dedicated to storytelling and travel. She lives in Orlando with her husband, but is always dreaming of far-off places. You can find her at her blog, www.globalheartbeat.co.


Judy Douglass

Judy's passion is to encourage God’s children- especially His daughters- to become all they were created to be and to accomplish all they were created to do. In more than 40 years on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, she has done that through writing, editing and speaking. As she partners with her husband Steve to lead Campus Crusade for Christ International/Cru, she focuses on Women’s Resources. Judy travels all over the world to speak and is known for her realness.


Elizabeth Edwards

Elizabeth lives in Zimbabwe, Africa with her husband and two teenage children where they are involved in agricultural and discipleship ministries. Elizabeth is passionate about healthy marriage and family life, and particularly enjoys encouraging mothers of young children.


Melissa Kruger

Melissa serves on staff at Uptown Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and speaks regularly at conferences around the country. She is the author of The Envy of Eve and Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood and writes articles for the Gospel Coalition and Christianity.com. Melissa’s most cherished roles include being a wife to Mike, president of Reformed Theological SeminaryCharlotte, and a mother to her three children, Emma, John, and Kate.


Mary Grace Lyon

Mary Grace makes a temporary home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with her husband Marcus and their three precious and vastly depraved little girls. A native of Winter Park, Florida, she graduated with a Journalism degree from the University of Georgia and a Masters from the University of Alabama. She is a recovering legalist who writes about her recent loss of a parent on her blog, "Good Grief." Find her at marygracelyon.blogspot.com.


Janet Schappell

Janet has a Master of Education in Counseling. She is in volunteer ministry as the Teaching Director for Community Bible Study in Fort Myers, Florida. Her passion is teaching God's Word, empowering women, and growing disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.


Leigh Swanson

Leigh is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary (MA Theological Studies) and serves the Orlando campus as Associate Dean of Students. She is a pastor’s wife, a mother of three, and an elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.


Carla Waterman

Carla (Ph.D. Cornell, 1993) has taught Christian Spiritual Formation at Wheaton College, Northern Seminary and the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. Carla resides in Orlando and leads reflective spiritual retreats, both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. She is married and has a young adult son. 


Benita Weems

Benita is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary- Orlando, and now serves as an Associate Pastor and shares the position with her husband, Samuel. She is also a stay at home mom of children Sophia, 5 years old, and Ezra, 2 years old. 


Bobbie Wolgemuth

Bobbie was a Bible teacher and the author or coauthor of several books, including the notes to "Mom's Bible" and the four-book Gold Medallion bestselling series "Hymns for a Kid's Heart" with Joni Eareckson Tada.  Bobbie and and her husband, Robert, have two married daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren.  Bobbie stepped into heaven on October 28, 2014, after a two and a half year journey through cancer. She was loved.
